1. The renewable biomass precursor purple sweet potato is employed as the cathode material for high-performance and sustainable Li-S batteries.

2. The activation approaches are optimized using the combination of KOH and Zn(OAC)2?2H2O which give the highly porous carbon structure.

3. The Li-S battery with purple sweet potato precursors demonstrates a high discharge capacity of 1390?mA h g?1, and excellent rate performance and cycling stability.
